Course #101 Basic Oil Burner Installation & Service Technician *
150-hour Basic Course of Study including NORA Oilheat Technician Certification Exam
This is a 4-week comprehensive course proven to take the student from little or no knowledge of oilheat to a NORA Certified Technician.
March 1 thru March 26

Books and laboratory fees are $200 additional.

Course #102 Introduction to Oil Burner Service *
This 3-day class presents basic operation, construction, and servicing of residential oil burners.

Course #104 Annual tune-up and combustion efficiency testing *
This 2-day class introduces students to the industry-accepted procedures and instruments involved in an oilheat system tune-up. Hands-on experience with live-fire units is included.

Course #403 Basic Electricity/Oil Heat Controls *
This 4-day class covers basic electrical and control theory, meter use, and hands-on wiring.

Course #105 Tanks, piping, fuel units and oil valves *
This 1-day class concentrates on the fuel storage, piping, and delivery side of an oilheat system.

Course #107 Heating Systems *
Steam, hydronic, warm air, domestic hot water, and alternative oilheat systems are presented and discussed by the staff and manufacturer’s representatives in this 3-day class.

Course #103 Residential Oil Burners (factory training) *
Representatives and/or factory trainers from Beckett, Carlin, and Riello present in-depth education on their respective burners in a 1-day class. Call for a schedule matching manufacturer to a particular date.

Course #106 Servicing procedures *
This 3-day class examines system troubleshooting, emergency (no-heat) troubleshooting, testing procedures, and the technician’s role in customer service with hands-on included.

Course #101A NORA Silver/Bronze Certification Exam *
This is a 1-day review and exam for the NORA Oilheat Technician Certification. Students must have a minimum of 100 hours of formal training to take the exam. Passing the exam results in a Silver Certification for technicians with 3 or more years of field experience, Bronze for those with less than 3 years experience. Course #101B NORA Gold Certification Exam *
This is a 1-day review and exam for NORA Silver-certified oilheat technicians with a minimum of 120 hours of formal training and 5 years of field experience. Students should be registered at least 2 weeks in advance of class to study the Advanced Oilheat Technician Manual which is provided upon receipt of tuition.

Course #302 EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification
Certification is required by the federal government for anyone handling or purchasing refrigerant. This is a 1-day review and exam. Students should be registered at least 2 weeks in advance of class to study the preparatory manual which is provided upon receipt of tuition.

Course #304 A/C Tune-up and Refresher for the Oilheat Technician
A one day class of A/C tune-up procedures. The basics of A/C service will also be covered as a refresher for techs.

Course #301 Residential A/C for the Oilheat Technician *
This 5-day class covers residential A/C from A to Z. Students install, charge, start-up and diagnose a split system. This class is suitable for any heating technician.

Course #303 R-410A Safety & Training Certification
R-410A is the refrigerant many manufacturers are using to replace R-22. This 1-day class with a review and exam considers components, service tools, charging procedures, and safety involved when handling R-410A. Students should be registered at least 2 weeks in advance of class to study the textbook which is provided upon receipt of tuition.
